My Shirley Temple

Monday, April 09, 2007

Tsk tsk tsk.
I don't know what came over me. I went to pubs twice this week. Twice.
The first was on Thursday with some colleagues. We wanted to go to Harry's but it was packed to the walls with patrons (namely, mat salehkeh ehh...) Aku macam nak pekik "AH PILIH PILIH PILIHHHH !!! ONE DELLERS ONE DELLERS ONE DELLERS!! BUY ONE GET ONE FREE!! Hurhur... Because the atmosphere in that place is akin to that of a wet market. Make that a mat salehkeh's wet market.
We ended up at Rogues at Market Street and it was quieter there, not necessarily peaceful. Just quieter. And I ordered some punch that cost eight-freakin-dellers and so sour nak mampos. But I didn't pay for it so cannot complain hor. Hurhur.
And the second was at New Asia Bar with Eli, in celebration of Shoba's birthday. I admit, I went because I wanted to check out that place more than anything else. But don't tell Shoba that. Hurhur.
It was at the 70th floor of Swissotel and the view from the top is amazing, balls.
Some of the girls from 4/9 were there too. Cecilia, Andrea, Sally and Su Zhen. Su Zhen, by the way, is doing her Masters. I asked what does she plan to do after her Masters. And to that, I meant like, what career path is she going to take. She answered "Oh... I will do my PhD." Full stop. I had to force myself to not pop out my eyes cos I was like, wow, can. But she can do it. She is a very determined girl.
Hell, I would be too if I have the ka-ching-ching-ching-(chong-fun).
So anyway, I was looking at the drinks menu, looking for some soda or juice when Sally asked me to get some alcoholic stuff. I said "Sorry I can't, I'm driving", which I think is a simpler answer to give than "Uhh... I don't drink" to which they'd ask "Why?" then I'd say "Uh... Don't know. Just don't" then the "But why?" bit and so on and so forth.
But dodge as I did, Sally still asked those questions so why the hell did I bother coming up with the excuse where I'm driving bit, when I can't even drive a go-kart. Hurhur.
I had a a Shirley Temple which cost me eight-freakin-dellers. Nama macam alcoholic beverage hor but it's not. It's a mixture of grenadine syrup with sprite and something else. I think it's ginger ale. And a slice of orange. I ate the orange and Sally jokingly scolded me like, why the hell do I come to a bar only to eat fruits. But it's so sedaaaapp... I very the lurve. I drank it slowly, konon-konon nak kasi my eight-freakin-dellers stretch longer. Hurhur.
I plan to go back there and try all the mocktails.
Eli, come laiiii...
