Hi, I'm back! Last Monday! Heh.
I can't wait to put up some of the pictures that we took in Korea. For example, there's me with a superhot B-boy, yo. But that's in Ratna's camera, so I have to wait for her to load it. He can move his neck and body muscles in such a way that it seems they're moving on their own! Ok I don't quite know how to describe it but it was hot! That was when we went to a B-boy ala breakdance concert in Seoul. Gerek seh tu!
Then there was me in Coffee Prince Cafe, against the backdrop of sunflowers where Choi Han-Kyul (Gong Yoo oppa) and Go Eun Chan (Yoon Eun Hye) first kissed hurhur. Psycho lah aku ni. But saya SUKA SEKALI!!~
I'm having Post Korea Depression. This time last 2 weeks, we were at Seoul Tower, taking an instant portrait of ourselves and laughing ourselves silly. I kinda miss the cold weather, but I don't miss feeling nauseous when I'm tooo cold.
Shit lah. Macam nak pergi sana lagi.
One more day to 2009.
What have you accomplished in 2008?

I left my soul in Seoul

Thursday, December 18, 2008

Seoul is cold. Very cold.
I occasionally get like, cold spastic spasms (if there is such a thing).
We went to Nami Island today. If you are not aware, that's where Winter Sonata was shot. Winter Sonata was the start of the Korean drama craze and the lead actor Bae Yong Joon was the original auntie killer. Sungguh tak hensem sangat but auntie killer nonetheless. Nami Island is beautiful! Korea has got alot of places to paktor you know! No wonder the guys here are so loving and affectionate! So many places to bring their girlfriends to! I lost count of how many girls I saw holding a bouquet of flowers in one hand and their oppa's hand in the other. Sigh sigh sigh.
I think ah, I want to stop blogging here lah. I think there are dubious people reading my blog. But then, I've been saying this for a very long time now and whimsical flights of fancy is still around right? It has weathered crazy people and comments. Maybe later.
I bought a shitload of stuffs (but still pretty measly compared to Ley and Ratna) and I was so stressed cos I don't have space to put them but now I do! I bought a kembes bag for 5,000 won. Everytime I go somewhere, I end up buying a kembes bag to put in my shopping. Rumah aku ada beribu bag kembes yang bermacam-macam gaya eh~ Dah boleh bukak kedai kembes hurhur...
Ok I wanna shit and I better stop the Ley and the Ratna from watching too much of their Korean variety you-tubes.

Jangan bukan-bukan at Busan

Sunday, December 14, 2008

Hi again.

We're already at Busan, and good thing is, we don't have to go to a PC Bang cos we have internet and PCs right here in the hotel!! They have FOUR PCs. AMPAT, kau! Berbaloi kan. Tak sia-sia jer bayar extra pasal tukar-tukar hotel. And then right, right under our hotel is a departmental store, plus our hotel is situated smack in the middle of some shopping district! Dia macam, ala-ala Far East meets Bugis market.

Abis tu kan, we were so hungry cos we have not had a proper meal like rice and dishes (we've been stuffing our faces with nonsense food like instant noodles and bread and tuna and biscuits and chocolates) so we hunted the ala-ala Bugis market and found a place that sells seafood! So we pandai-pandai order steamed fish and broiled eel and sotong and HA-KAU, our table was filled with all these side dishes like leaves and kimchi and wasabe and mussels. So we didn't know how to eat these things right? Then came this ahjummah and she took a leaf, took a seasoned eel, some sprigs of spring onion, kimchi, wrapped it up tightly, dipped it in chilli and stuffed it into Ley's mouth!! Like, literally stuff it into her mouth ok! Entah tangan dia cuci ke tidak seh. Mana tau baru abis cebok-cebok ke... Baru abis lap peluh ke... Abeh the Ley pong main sebat jer tu daun. Hurhur. Oh and then right, this ahjummah is so tak tau malu one. She feed us, then use the same chopsticks to feed herself. Feed us, then feed herself. Tanpa segan silu eh sila~ Sendiri masak, sendiri makan.

Oh and then in Korea right, they have sambal belachan also. Looks exactly the same, except for the limau nipis. And the people in the restaurant were so amused with us that the ahjushi next to our table belanja kita DUA BOTOL AIR COCA-COLA!!! Dia kata, "service". Apparently, if the people in Korea wants to give us free things, they call it "service". Hurhur lain macaammm jer word "service" tu. I can't help but think dirty whenever "service" comes up. In fact, before this "service" from the ahjushi, we got another "service" in the form of 2 free packs of wet towels from Family Mart in Jeju. I think they like us. Ok maybe they like Ley and Ratna cos they wear tudung. The Koreans seem so intrigued with them that I feel so left out! Maybe I should wear the tudung for the next few days just so that I can feel ala-ala exotic. HURHUR.

We are having so much fun here. Our first day in Busan was definitely awesome. I like doing random stuffs and going to places that we normally would not in Singapore. Like the snooker place yesterday. Tu dodgy maha dodgy ok. Alot of smoking men looking all grudge and here we have 3 Malay girls mana peh step nak main snooker pahahaha... Yor-yor orh lah korang ni.

Oh and I had a scare this morning on the flight to Busan, you know. While checking in, I placed my handphone in the basket to go under the scan. And I left with my bag, coat and jeju marmalade but left my handphone in the basket! While in the plane, I remembered about my handphone and turned my bag inside out and dengan muka panic asked the stewardess to help me look for my missing handphone. I think we were just minutes away from taking off.

Nonetheless, they found my handphone. I think it was because it was a Samsung and they probably feel that it's not worth selling cos it was peeling at the side all.

I so poor thing, you know. Cos on the first day, the zip on my luggage went bonkers and I had to buy a new luggage. I have alot of nonsense on my own to deal with. And let's not even start on the climb to Mt Halla. I wanted to die! So unfit, so cold, have not fully recovered from my flu and cough AND the icing on the cake? I twisted my ankle while climbing up! So I only covered about 1/4 of the way up and had to go down alone, with people staring at me cos I look so different from them.

And I'm in my tank top and pants and Ley turned on her iPod, alahh... Buat macam rumah sendiri gitu. It's our fifth day tomorrow. We're left with 7 more days, and I'm sure the people at work are missing me but for reasons like, "why the hell do I have to do Farzuin's work when I have alot of my own!" I feel quite bad for having to take 8 days leave from work but this was planned like, in August or something. Oh well. I just have to buy lots of stuffs back for them.

I haven't even finished this vacation and I'm already thinking of where to go next, which shouldn't be the case since I should be saving money in these times but oh! It's so tempting!

The wonderlust is itching to go to Europe next!

(Bebual macam banyak duit jer deni).

Greetings from Jeju~!

Saturday, December 13, 2008

Hello! Greetings from the Jeju Island!
This place is freaking cold or what!
I'm at a dodgy internet cafe in Jeju with the Ley and the Ratna. We are safe, all in one piece. You know why I said that? Cos Ley drove for 2 days! Hurhur. Ok she wasn't all that bad, just a little nervous. And understandably so cos the cab drivers here all pretend to be Lewis Hamilton! We have a GPS system in our white Laceti (all the cars here are white by the way), and it would have been perfect has it not been in Korean! So kita pandai-pandai lah eh pakai GPS in Korean and we survived. I was appointed co-pilot and I don't think I did all that bad hurhur...
We ran into a little misadventure but I think the One above was looking after us cos help came in a form of an ahjushi and his son. Bless them.
We will be flying off to Busan tomorrow for another 3 days, hopefully there are internet cafes there too (they call them PCbang here, as in "Bang, angkatkan kain baju, bang..." Hurhur...
I wish I could bring back some Jeju oranges back to Singapore but it's gonna be a hassle lor... So heavy all.
Ok until next one!

Gong Yoo is nearer than I thought

Tuesday, December 09, 2008

This time tomorrow, I will be sitting next to Ratna in the plane to Incheon while Ley sits behind us. Hurhur.
I can't wait.
But I fell sad too you know. I don't really like the feeling of leaving Singapore and saying goodbyes to the people who sent me off. Aku kalau travel selalu mesti ada at least 10 orang hantar. Serious, tak bedek. That time to NZ, I had my family, my grandparents, Ratna, Maz, Eli, Yan, Bernard, and 3 of Yan's friends whose names I don't recall. Dah 14 tu. And then I end up crying cos I cannot bear to see them seeing me off.
Macam mana nak jadi globe-trotter ni!
Oh and Ratna and Ley, don't be surprised if you see me sniffing into my pillow somewhere on the 6th night or so eh. Cos that's when I'll start missing my family and friends. Alah korang buat tak tau jer lah.. Heh.
Oh I have one bit of news.
My uncle found out that I was going Korea yesterday right. So then he told me it's snowing there and I asked him how did he know. He said he has a Korean friend whom he got to know when he was an International student at a university in Malaysia. This guy was an International Political Studies (or something) student there. He said this Korean guy is a regular army personnel and his camp is at the border of North Korea and South Korea. HELLO THAT'S WHERE GONG YOO'S CAMP IS HOKAY?!! Eh apa ni! Gong Yoo is nearer to me than I thought! Must be nice to my uncle then maybe he'll let me talk to this Korean friend of his. Then can ask him to pass his handphone to Gong Yoo and that's where we will begin our friendship. WOW it's possible ok! Hurhur. It's possible right, when I put it this way. No?
Ok then. Must go home and pack. Haven't packed yet lah siols.

Phrasebook.facebook

Saturday, December 06, 2008

My mum is so sweet. She called me up and asked if I had learnt any basic conversational Korean and I said no, but Ratna has an English-Korean translation book or something and she went on to buy me a pocket-sized phrasebook. Hurhur.
So now I'm able to tell people if I'm lost in Korean. Kee-rul eero-ssumneeda. Heh.
Thanks Huda for having a friend at Esprit hehe. I got my winter coat at a very good deal, and while we're at it, why not throw in a pair of jeans too, I thought!

One Fine Day, I will be better...

Wednesday, December 03, 2008

Last Saturday, we had our firm Family Day @ the Movies at Viva la Vivo. So I brought Melor and we watched Madagascar 2. Then Huda came along and brought with her a Pri 1 boy. Hurhur kita dah macam single parents, you know! Young mums with kids in tow. That would make me pregnant at 17. Hmm.
Anyway, on the way back, I walked past Poh Kim the video store and enquired about One Fine Day and what do you know! They have it! I was so sad cos every video store I entered said they're out of stock you know. And best thing was, it was only $15!
But then right, now that I have One Fine Day, I coldn't watch it cos why? I'm busy with work. The nature of this work is best left undescribed, save for the fact that it makes me cry. So now it's like, nasib macam kentang kan, dah ada One Fine Day, but cannot watch it. I had intended to watch that before I fly off to Korea next week.
But oh, blessings come in many devices. On Monday, I discovered that the nature of work I was referring to wouldn't continue and I am free! FREE!! But alas, I am down with fever of 38.3* and flu too. I feel woozy and tired and kept drifting in and out of sleep. And still dreaming of work. I dreamt that I was surrounded by mountains and mountains of papers and that I would have to do discovery for the rest of my life. Gasp! The horror the horror lah pantat! Not funny lor, the dream.
But even if the body is incapitated, the eyes are not, so apa lagi, I've been watching One Fine Day back to back hurhur... Life is partly blissful, amidst the mucused-tissues and bouts of coughs and hallucinations.
We're flying next Wednesday and I have not prepared or bought anything! No winter coat, no proper shoes, no proper pants (cos I'm always in skirts), no proper warm tops. I am so dead. I can imagine its gonna be a mad scramble to get all those stuffs just days before my trip. I have to be careful with money, though. Must not be an impulse shopper. Must remember recession. Must remember kids at home. Sigh.
Although I must say, I think I'm better with money now than I was a few years ago. But the taxi thing must really stop. I should cut down on taxis. Taxis are evil. They make you pay so much!
Ok, until next time. I try to squeeze in an entry before I leave. And with Ratna brining the lappie along on the trip (she says she's got work to do there. How is that even possible!), maybe we can blog while we're in the land of kimchi and Gong Yoo. Hurhur, land of Gong Yoo.
Ok toodles. Until the next one.
