Sat at home on a Sat

Saturday, August 18, 2007

The "bump-into" with Rai and Maz the other day was quite fun. I can't wait to see the outcome! Hurhur I can't say here what this is all about but don't worry, in 2 weeks, all will be revealed. And pictures will be up as evidence. Hurhur. Some heaving chest and 2 horns will be involved.

Have I tweaked your interest yet? Heh.

I'm so bored. I'm home on a Saturday, balls. I feel lethargic. I think it is kicking in, that women's curse.
Because I am bored like this, here are some pictures of After the Sky before they set for their Japan Tour on 31 July 2007. They were back on National Day, just in time to celebrate Singapore's birthday.

After the Sky w.k.a No Direction. That's Yan's boyfriend second from the left. That's the guy that I'm constantly fighting with for Yan's time and attention. Hurhur.

Not After the Sky.

The Japan Tour troop. Girls, AH PILIH PILIH ONE DELLERS ONE DELLERS ONE DELLERS!! Hurhur. The guy at the bottom left broke his wrist while playing soccer with the boys about a month before the tour. So the session bassist was that Jap-looking guy with the shades. Haha.

Just when everything was thought to be fine and dandy, one of the guys' bass cover handle snapped! But a few fiddlings later, it's as good as new and they're good to go.

One picture for the road. Tengok tu Yan, dengan senang hati put his arm around his boyfriend but he totally ignored me, who was beside him. I had to inch closer to him but as you can see, my effort was futile! Ah, the love he has for another man...

MM and MC

Wednesday, August 15, 2007

Yan is going to be a Mat Motor :(
I don't like, cos that means, I'm going to be a MinahMotor :( :( :(
Not that it's much of a problem. Just that I don't like the idea of sitting behind a guy with my legs err..... Open. Now that I've laid it out as bare like that, my concern is not unfounded right?
And I also don't like the idea of Yan riding lah... It seems so dangerous. Macam merbahaya di jalan raya punya slogan.
PLUS, IF ever I take a ride on his bike, then I have to plan my wardrobe. Like, no more mini skirts which I'm so in love now, and I need to remember to carry along a cardi or something and I can forget about heels lah eh, AND (this is the worst bit) my hair will be ruined! It'll be flat and ugly and tangled! PLUS, I think Yan's bike should do without a box but then, where am I gonna put my bag when I ride with him? Tsk. Concerns, concerns...
Let's go back to basics, sweetie. Let's go public. Heh.
As if that would happen. If he doesn't have the car, our dear friend would rather stand me up and stay at home than take the train to meet me. He is very spoilt like that. Hrmph!
Ok I'm beginning to sound like some atas, whiny bitch. Let's move on.
I'm at home with an MC cos I have food poisoning.
I blame it on a rotten piece of prawn that I ate last evening. I ordered Sambal Nasi Goreng Seafood and it was fine for the first few bites. Then I remember eating a piece of prawn where 2/3 of the body is detached and only the top part was seen so I ate that and maaaannn.... It was nasty! It's rotten and urgh! I swallowed it anyway cos I was already chewing it. Hurhur.
The feeling is like what you know... The kind like, you feel nauseous and uncomfortable and you're not sure if you wanna shit or throw up, that kind. Macam seperti contoh, this morning, I was brushing my teeth and had the urge to sit on the toilet bowl (to do my business, of course, not because I need a seat, duh) so I ended up cleaning my teeth AND cleaning my bowels at the same time. And then I had the image of me biting into the rotten piece of prawn and eh sila eh~ I threw up all over the toilet floor lah eh knn. Opps pardon my French.
I still made my way to work cos I'm a dedicated worker I had things to settle and it can't wait til tomorrow and the moment I plonk my ass on the seat, I stood up in a panic and raaaann like mad to the ladies. This cannot be! I must take MC! Hurhur.
So yeah... Went to JP and the doctor was going on and on about the CEO of the place I'm working at now and how he's amazed by the news in the papers that Singapore's top 5 lawyers made S$5m a year. But being me, I heard him say 'the top 5 liars' and I was thinking he's quite brave to say something politically incorrect but then he repeated the sentence and I'm like ahhhh.... Lawyers rupanya... Hurhur. Bini Pak Man Tempe. I blame it on the rotten prawn. It affects my hearing too.
Ok wanna drink some fluid and rest. My poor tummy has taken quite a beating prawn.

Pics from HK

Sunday, August 12, 2007

Ok. About time I load up some pictures from my HK trip.

With Huda and Moonie. We were soo late for the D&D because some of us had this bright idea to go shopping at Sogo first. Hurhur. And we took so much time taking pictures that I did not have time to help myself to the desserts. What a waste. They had such a nice dessert spread! I helped myself to seconds, though. Hurhur.

With Sal. She was so into the theme, I tell ya. Siap dengan headband abeh headband and dress matching all. Very ago-go. Hurhur.

With Nadz. I forgot to put up a picture with her initially and she merajuk. So here it is! Happy? Chet~

With Kak Wati. Like fairy godmother, she. With the hair and the white flowy gown.

I like this picture because I think I look like a French courtesan! HAHA ok bedek. I think the lace gloves are the only thing 50s about me. I didn't rent my hat in the end :(

Ok enough of D&D pics. Let's see what Hong Kong is all about.

Ok firstly, the picture says 'No Music' but KENAPER eh the caption says 'To quiet car"? Hopefully you can read the blurred words just under the ching chong fun words. Ok never mind. Moving on.

Seems like an ad/banner for a shop specializing in mending bowls with cracks right? ONLY they wrote it 'mending bowls with cramp'! Eh nyah, abenda cramp ni?!?! I didn't know bowls can have cramps lor geez. Nadz and I laughed our asses off cos it's not like it's a small banner. Besar nyah banner nyer!

This was taken at the platform at the train station on the way to Shenzhen. I have no idea what it means. Later, I found out from my chinese colleague that it's a direct translation of whatever it is they're trying to tell us.

And this one is kinda rude. It says 'You're WELCOME to exit from Luohu Port'. Macam apa tau... When your guests are leaving your house, you say "Ok bye. You're welcome to go now". Ataupun dalam bahasa Melayu. "Ok jumpa lagi eh... Dipersilakan berambos". Hurhur.

Rick must be the one who makes these chocolate pudding with custard sauce.

And my favourite - Boay and Foot massage! This is my theory. When the massage people were sending these for printing, they gave the printers a picture of the feet and hand-wrote 'Body & Foot', only they probably wrote the 'd' in body is such a way that it looks like an 'a'. Boay tahan ah Awing pandai-pandai come up with a theory. Hurhur.

I bought this cap in HK! It's a ciplak Giorgio Armani hurhur... Caps are good to have when you have bad hair days - which I had during my entire trip there. And because washing my hair in the salon would eat into my shopping time so a cap was my saving grace!

And believe it or not, this was my only meal that I bought in Hong Kong. Cos we had lunch in the plane, then the D&D food, and breakfasts were provided by the hotel. It's tandoori chicken nasi goreng and it's good! I was told that the place is run by a Malay guy who used to live in Kembangan. It's called Shadowman and they have PCs with Internet access too. Good for a Muslim travelling in HK. It's quite near Sheraton, where we stayed. I can't believe I didn't take pictures of our room. It's awesome! I used and kebas most of the things. Hurhur. What? I'm Singaporean what.

Ok next up, Bangkok! Hurhur... My mum scolded me cos she said I should be saving up for Hari Raya instead of spending on travelling. Frankly, I would rather spend on travelling than spend for Hari Raya. See the streets of another country than spend on another baju kurung. Howell.

I haven't told her about Australia yet. I might follow Yan and stay with his sister there for a few days. Aku ni macam-macam lah. But it's so exciting!

Hong Kong

Saturday, August 04, 2007

Hi I'm baaacckk...
Actually I was already back on Monday night. I love Hong Kong! I can shop like I'm a bloody millionaire and still have a few thousands to spare!
The flight to HK was good but the flight back saw some air turbulence where I saw my orange juice swinging merrily in the cup, threatening to spill over.
Anyway, the D&D was just so-so. In the end, I did not rent my lovely black hat because I figured it would be too much of a hassle. Topi aku tu kalau kecik takper nyaaarr... Besar seoul. It's a whole different entity by itself and probably requires a separate luggage bag. My luggage was filled to the seams as it was when I got back.
Wanna know what I brought back? Some t-shirts for the guys in my life, a Balenciaga for my mum (whether it's real or not, I leave it to your imagination hurhur), some stuffs for the girls in my life, gourmet teas for the gramps, and sikat kutu for my grandmas. Okay they're not sikat kutu, but Huda said they're sikat kutu.
And a grand total of 7 tops for myself! Esprit warehouse sells t-shirts for as low as $8 apiece! I would have bought more but I wanted to pee so bad! I couldn't concentrate on shopping! Macam apa tau... Everytime I see something pretty, I can't stop and look. I have to grab it off the shelves and look at it while walking cos if I stop, I'd pee. Macam perempuan say-whale okay. For some reasons, I always have bladder and stomach problems when I travel. My stomach feels bloated and I have this perpetual peeing sensation. Brings a whole new meaning to 'makan angin' eh sila hadirin dan hadirat.
I got me some 'I sold my soul to Rock & Roll' tee and one with the words 'Groupie'. I very the luuurrve. T-shirt Groupie ni, untuk the times when I go to Yan's gigs. Hurhur.
So many little incidents happened at HK. One of them was the part where we got ripped off by a cab driver. Itu cab driver memang nak kena pelangkung! Learn English lah, for goodness sakes! It's like, how long are you gonna stay primitive and survive by hand signs and bits and pieces of broken English and a whole lotta Cantonese with foreigners?
On Sat night, we were at Lam Kwai Fong, and after 3 rounds of the damn place, we decided to go Hard Rock, a place we should have just gone in the first place cos LKF are full of watering holes. We were looking for dancing spots, rather. But some of us got scared cos the only available dancing spots with hip-hop/R&B are the ones full of blacks.
So this was the part where we hailed a cab to Hard Rock Cafe abeh the cab driver drove us to mana tau... Delifrance CAFE at Tsim Sha Tsui Complex eh sila tuan-tuan dan puan-puan. Aku kan kata HARD ROCK CAFE bukan DELIFRANCE CAFE lah setaannnn... And you know what's the icing on the cake? Delifrance Cafe was CLOSED! The workers tengah sebok sapu-sapu, cuci lantai eh. If I had it my way, I wouldn't pay him lah. I think the fare was S$15 or something. Eh S$15 can buy me 3 pairs of shoes in Shen Zhen okay!
Anyway, minutes before we board the bus to the airport for home, I had a little (mis)adventure.
Huda and I were the only ones from Group 3 while the rest of our friends were in Group 4. So we had a few hours to kill before our bus to the airport leaves at 1pm. So the morning of Monday saw us doing some last minute shopping before we decided to treat ourselves to a 45 mins foot massage. Halfway through, 4 angmoh guys came out from what we assume was their body massage rooms and waited at the reception. I'm sure they were gossiping about us like how we were gossiping about them. Huda said one of them looked like a member from Blink 182 and another looked like the doctor from the series Lost. Whatshisface, John? Jack?
Anyway, after the massage, we walked quickly to Sheraton Hotel (which was, by the way, just splentacular), just in time to see Group 3 boarding their buses. While dragging our luggage to the bus, I realised something. I left my favourite jacket at the massage parlor! I've only worn the jacket once and it's already my favourite so that's saying alot. I asked Huda "Eh, you think I have time to get it back?" Huda: "No."
I did a quick mental calculation in my head. The massage parlor was a good 10mins walk from hotel. That'll make it 20mins to get back at the hotel. With any luck, I can make it in 12. Kata dah massage kaki, so I should be able to walk faster CHEYBAH. Walk fast, waklu walk fast. Shopping kills your feet eh sila.
I told the tour leader and started jogging. I would have given it a go, regardless of the fact that she might say No. Cos I'm adamant like that. As I was nearing the massgae parlor, I saw the group of angmohs downstairs having a smoke. As I got nearer, they turned to look, one even with a hint of a snigger, I thought.
See the thing is, while Huda and I were paying for the massage service, the manager of the place made a commotion. From his voice tonation and hand gestures and angry face, we assume that the angmoh boys left without paying for their services. I was therefore surprised to see them at the foot of the massage parlor building. Ok so whatever. I ran up and asked for my jacket and this woman, with what little English she could muster, said that someone had taken my jacket and I screamed "WHERE'S MY BLACK JACKET!! I LEFT IT HERE!!!" pasal aku macam stress thinking about the trouble I'm in, making my bus wait and not coming back with my favourite jacket.
The woman ran out and down the stairs. I followed her. As I was walking down the stairs, she was coming up with my jacket! And she was pointing to the group of angmohs! APA NI!! KENAPER mereka amik jacket saya ni! I don't understand this whole thing. Was Blink 182 trying to keep my jacket for his girlfriend? Was Jack trying to be funny? What the hell. And as I walked past them, Blink 182 winked! Not funny lah botak! Just not funny. Aku tengah stress ni. Kaki dah penat seoul jalan cepat-cepat. Never mind, I got my jacket back. That's all that matters.
Ahh HK. Pictures will be up soon, hopefully.
