~onward with zeal and zest, forward we of CGS~

Monday, February 06, 2006

I stumbled out of my room this morning and as I walked past my mother, she said to me while pointing to the newspaper she was reading "Eh Win, tengok ni... Dulu dia kawan primary school ibu tau... Sekarang HAA KAU~ Dah jadi jutawan ahh... Tsk tsk..." While shaking her head and going tsk-tsking at a picture of a man in the front page. I just "Oh eh?" and went to the bathroom. And when I stepped out to the living room again, she said "Eh Win, kau tengok... Your Malay teacher, Cikgu Saifa in the papers. Got your school..." I was quite irritated lah right. Cos I was already late for work and she has to give me the full coverage of Berita Harian. I just mumbled something like I'm late. But after ironing my clothes, I thought I'd just do a quick read of our school article.
EH CGS IS HAVING OUR 50TH ANNIVERSARY LAH OK!!
And there at the top of the page is a picture of Cikgu Saifa (she hasn't changed a bit) and some of the nerd-looking girls with their Tablet PC. Action lah sekolah kita ni. But can I just add that we're the *ehem* first school with a Tablet PC *ehem* I can't help but feel this swelling pride in myself. Kenapa sekolah kita bagus ni. Terlalu advanced lah. I mean seriously, I'm not just having some boasting rights here. I'm telling you, we're pretty advanced in our learning. We received homeworks and do them via the PC (well the Juniors, at least). It's like foolscap paper-sized but it's a PC, youknowwhatImean... Then there's the Study Pavilion and Art Gallery (with my beloved ceramics still there ehem*) and Archives Lab. And we also adopt this PBL-Learning. Problem-Based Learning. This is waaay before I learnt PBL in Poly. So you see, it's pretty advanced. Come all schools, convert to Autonomous. Not only will you receive more subsidies from the Government, you also enjoy better activities and programmes. On top of the generous donations from rich parents. Not from mine anyway, hurhur... And of course, you leave the school with a renowned sense of confidence. Womanhood, for me, starts at CGS.
Oh and the hall is air-conditioned so you won't get sweaty and smelly girls in our school, except of course, after PE lessons. Hurhur...
I should get royalty fees like this. I'm praising my Alma Mater way too much. But I don't mind. Hurhur...
So anyway, I talked to Ley early in the morning on my way to work and told her the exciting news. The article said that the girls are to come in the school uniform or in something yellow and turquoise! Eh aku tak sabar lah babi!! Remember how I keep saying I want to walk in town and wear the school U one last time? Well yeah IT'S HAPPENING NOW. I'm gonna bring my uniform to school and change into them but Jila told me to wear from home so we can camwhore in the train on the way there. EH EXCITING KANN!!
So erm ok, because I was so excited, I called the school today and asked for details. The lady said it's from 9a.m-12p.m and there'll be some activities going on. She asked if I've received an invitation, I said No. She said it's by invitation only. So I turned on my charm: "Oh I see... Well you see, my friends and I would really love to come, you have no idea. There's about 10 of us. I read about this in the papers and it seems like we can just turn up without any invitation of sorts. We're really excited about this 50th anniversary, you see. We would like to see the time-capsule again and meet the teachers. In fact, just this morning, we're talking about what fun it would be to turn up in our old school uniform!" *giggles for sound effect*
She: Hmm well in that case, give me your name and address and I'll send you an invitation.
Me: Oh you're so helpful. Thank you very much! You know we appreciate this very much.
Ok Washingtons. You girls can thank me later. Ok?
Those tudungless kebrets (me inclusive), please eh. I expect nothing short of our yellows and turquoises. Don't forget your badges and name-tags! Maz, please wear clean socks. Eli, please IRON your uniform. Jila, please eh~ NO NEED to buy new blouse. Jila told me to wear my T-shirt inside my blouse AND MY GRAFITTI SHORTS UNDERNEATH MY SKIRTS. Eh gila keperr!! Graph-paper shorts aku dah buang lah sial. Hurhur... And those girls with tudungs, I suggest you girls get some yellow and turquoise ensemble. AMACAM?!?! Then maybe there'll be cameramen and journalists doing a cover on us. Hurhur bedek lah...
So make yourself free on the 18th February 2006, 9a.m-12p.m. You know the place.
Another excuse to meet and have one more good ol' time.
~the day when we must part, may Crescent remain in our hearts~
Aku ni feeling-feeling lah. Benci.
