Black cornered

I am such an accident-prone klutz.
Last two Mondays, I was just standing by the copier at the firm's library and chatting with Sal when I moved back a step and twisted my right ankle. Twice.
See the thing is, the copier was placed on top on a plastic shield to protect the carpet below and the shield wasn't exactly flat on the ground. It was slightly raised and somehow, my wedge sliced on top of it and that was how my ankle got twisted. EH SAKIT EH NYAARR! And in the process, I was scrambling to stay standing and was grappling the copier and whatever I could get my hands on cos nothing scares me more than falling flat on my bum or face. So because of that, my ankle took a beating and it was pretty bad you know, the sprain.
I've always had problems with my ankles, twisting it now and then but never this bad. On top of that, I was reminded of the story Maz once told me about this girl who died when she twisted her ankle for a second time cos apparently, there was a blood clot in the sprained ankle and the toxins accumulated there and finally, the contaminated blood travelled to the rest of the body or something like that abeh saya dah panic sekejap eh tuan-tuan dan puan-puan.
So I went to the doctor's at the same building and the doctor checked it and said it was fine except he could see that it was twisted pretty badly. And because I was paranoid, I told him the story that Maz told me and he said I don't have to worry and that I'm going to live up to a hundred! Hurhur so charming hor this doctor. But he's old lah. Not as cute as the doctor from my eye procedure tu. So old doctor asked his nurse to wrap my foot and I walked around a bit like Quasimodo for the rest of the day. Tu cerita pasal Mas Selamat belum keluar lagik, nasib ah kalau tidak confirm ada banyak calls from Raffles Place or Jurong West, reporting of sightings of Mas Selamat dressed as a woman.
Speaking of doctors, I've realised that young doctors nowadays are getting cuter and cuter. Lagi-lagi semenjak dua menjak doctor mamat from A&E tu hurhur... Yesterday, I went to the doctor's again for my flu and hello, doctor ching chong fun ni cute lah seh! I was quite disappointed he didn't take my temperature cos I was sure it would have risen hurhur... Yan? Don't worry ok? You're still my sweetums. (Cos he got a bit agro when he read my entry about the doctor mamat, you know).
Speaking of agro, I don't know why but I am suddenly reminded of the word negro.
A few weeks ago, as I was going home from Jurong Point, I had a little encounter with one yo-man yo-man. Macam gini tau. I was queueing up for a cab and dari jauh like 6 people in front of me, I noticed a black guy - I don't know, probably Nigerian? - was standing there with the phone and speaking in what I assume is the African language. Abeh aku tengah tenung dia ni, pasal dia bebual kuat lah seh. What I didn't realise was that he has a friend with him and guess what? His friend was staring at me staring at his friend! Opps. Mati ah gini. Confirm kena bantai lepas ni.
I thought I was saved cos they would probably take the cab before me but no eh sila~ They got out from the queue and stood at the side so aku pon buat bodoh ah buat macam takder pape. As I got nearer to the front of the queue, the friend of Pak Itam smiled at me and said "Hi apa khabar?" HAH APER??? PAK ITAM BEBUAL MELAYU?!?! Eh ni Pak Itam keee.... Mamat kulit gelap ni??? Aku macam confuse sekejap lah kan. But then I just nodded pasal don't wanna be rude but don't wanna be friendly either. And then he started talking to me in MALAY lah eh! You know the funny thing is, he doesn't even have a weird accent! Like, he speaks Malay like he's a mat nak pick-up girls gitu... Like this eh contoh "Nak pergi mana ni? Alah takkan tak boleh bebual... Senyum ah sikit.. Fierce ah kakak ni..." AH macam gituk lah! Seram tak? Seram kan! Abeh the whole time, I shook my head macam budak bisu and like, where the hell is the cab ni. Tadi datang berduyun-duyun, bila time aku, peh lembab ah eh...
And the whole time, the Pak Itam was talking in Malay to himself and chuckling that rasta-rasta chuckle. You know, the kinda chuckle that only black guys are capable of doing. So when my cab finally arrived, he said "Ok lah, baik-baik jalan" and I just gave a small wave because I'm afraid that if I don't, he would jump into the next cab and told the driver "Follow that cab!" because my imagination is wild like that... Hurhur.
In the cab, I called Dayana cos I know she likes black guys. I keep getting hit upon by black guys, you know. It's my fourth encounter already. I think I have to stop staring at them cos agaknya bila time aku stare, they think "Hmm ni ada potensi jadi girlfriend Singapore" dalam bahasa Melayu ah agaknya, if it was that black guy thinking. Hurhur. I heard they like malay girls.
Anyway, a little late but Happy Birthday Maz!! Best tak kita punya surprise?? Penat tau the Queens decorate itu pavilion. Ok for now. Gotta go. Busy, busy weekend.
